Southern Mantle Works is more than a woodshop — it’s a story of legacy, resilience, and a passion for quality craftsmanship.

Founded in 1985 by Mark Poole in Decatur, Alabama, our business quickly became known for handcrafted furniture, custom cabinetry, elegant mantels, and one-of-a-kind wood pieces. Mark’s dedication to quality and his ability to bring ideas to life earned Southern Mantle a loyal following throughout the community.

But one day, everything changed. A devastating electrical fire destroyed the entire workshop — tools, materials, and years of hard work, all lost in a single night.

For many years after, the shop stayed quiet. Yet the passion for woodworking never faded. Mark continued taking on small custom projects for local customers, quietly keeping the spirit of Southern Mantle Works alive.

Today, we're proud to say — we're back.

With a fresh vision and a modern approach, we’ve reopened Southern Mantle Works to offer a new line of handcrafted pieces, built on the same foundation of care, creativity, and Southern pride. We now specialize in:

• Rustic picture frames and home décor

• Cedar birdhouses

• One-of-a-kind custom builds – made to order, just for you
